Production Line Capabilities:
We run six coating lines in Kalamazoo, each with its own part window. The dimensions below are the working envelope for each line. If your part fits one of them we can quote it, and if it is close, send the print anyway. Racking and fixturing solve more edge cases than the numbers suggest.
| Line | Process | Part window, W × L × H | Max weight | Line notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Line 1 | Plastisol dip | 16 × 32 × 12 in. (406 × 813 × 305 mm) | 20 lbs. (9.1 kg) per part | — |
| Line 2 | Lab line, powder coating | 26 × 48 × 56 in. (660 × 1,219 × 1,422 mm) | 125 lbs. (56.7 kg) per part | Sample and trial work |
| Line 4 | Plastisol dip and nylon spray | 30 × 48 × 20 in. (762 × 1,219 × 508 mm) | 125 lbs. (56.7 kg) per trolley | — |
| Line 5 | Powder coating, high volume | 30 × 144 × 54 in. (762 × 3,658 × 1,372 mm) | 125 lbs. (56.7 kg) per trolley | 934 ft. (285 m) conveyor at 8–12 ft./min. (2.4–3.7 m/min.). Automatic booth width is 28 in. (711 mm). |
| Line 6 | Powder coating, batch | 24 × 120 × 60 in. (610 × 3,048 × 1,524 mm) | 500 lbs. (227 kg) per guide bar | 12 flybars |
| Line 7 | Powder coating, plastics and small standard parts | 30 × 60 × 40 in. (762 × 1,524 × 1,016 mm) | 62 lbs. (28.1 kg) per trolley | 525 ft. (160 m) conveyor at 4.4 ft./min. (1.3 m/min.). Cure 22 min. and 16 min. |
Pretreatment
Both production powder lines run their own multi-metal washer, so steel, aluminum, and mixed-substrate parts can be processed without a chemistry change between jobs. Rinse water is generated by our own reverse osmosis system.
Line 5 washer, six stages: alkaline cleaner → fresh water rinse → fresh water rinse with R.O. counterflow → zirconium conversion coating → fresh water rinse with R.O. counterflow → pure water rinse from the R.O. system.
Line 7 washer, four stages: iron phosphate with fluoride cleaner/coater → fresh water rinse → non-chrome sealer → pure water rinse from the R.O. system.
